Senior Procurement Expert - Public Sector - Global Consulting Firm - Contractual

Our client, a global consulting firm, is working with a leading developmental finance institution in India to support the establishment of a new entity focused on advancing financial inclusion. As part of this broader initiative, they are seeking a Procurement Expert with experience in PSU-adjacent or quasi-public sector procurement practices

In this strategic advisory role, the consultant will help the client design and implement procurement policies that balance efficiency with public-sector-aligned governance standards. The expert's contributions will be critical to ensuring robust, transparent, and fit-for-purpose procurement frameworks for the new institution

Key responsibilities:

- Advise on procurement policy frameworks relevant to quasi-public sector or PSU-adjacent organizations

- Assess and recommend improvements to proposed procurement processes for the new entity

- Share best practices for balancing compliance, governance, and operational efficiency

- Participate in strategic discussions with the client team to shape procurement policy

- Provide ad hoc support via calls and virtual meetings as needed

- Act as a trusted subject matter advisor during key phases of the entity build-out

Your background:

- 15+ years of experience in procurement policy and frameworks within PSU, PSU-adjacent, or quasi-public sector organisations

- Strong familiarity with procurement practices in organizations operating under hybrid public-private models

- Solid understanding of India's public-sector-oriented procurement compliance requirements

- Excellent advisory and communication skills for working with senior stakeholders

- Prior experience with organisations such as NPCI, SBI Mutual Fund, BoB Financial, or similar is preferred

Other information:

- This is a contractual opportunity with initial engagement duration of 3-4 months

- Estimated commitment of 4-6 hours per month

- Primarily remote support through ad hoc calls with the client team
