Product Manager - Micro Lending & Buy Now Pay Later - Payments Firm - Contractual

Our client, a global consulting firm, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Micro Lending & Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) Product Manager to lead the development, management, and growth of the bank's micro-lending and BNPL offerings. This role will focus on designing customer-centric credit solutions, optimizing risk management, driving adoption, and ensuring regulatory compliance while aligning with the bank's overall digital and financial inclusion strategy.

Core Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Product Development & Strategy:

- Develop and execute the strategy for micro-lending and BNPL products, ensuring alignment with the bank's broader retail banking objectives.

- Identify market opportunities, customer needs, and competitive trends to enhance existing offerings and launch innovative lending solutions.

- Design and implement scalable, technology-driven credit solutions tailored to different customer segments.

Risk & Compliance Management:

- Collaborate with risk, compliance, and legal teams to define credit policies, underwriting criteria, and fraud prevention strategies.

- Ensure products comply with local regulatory requirements and global best practices in responsible lending.

- Work closely with credit risk teams to optimize customer selection.

Partnerships & Ecosystem Development:

- Identify and establish partnerships with merchants, fintechs, payment processors, and technology providers to expand BNPL adoption.

- Negotiate commercial agreements with ecosystem partners and ensure seamless integration with banking infrastructure.

- Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal teams (IT, operations, marketing, and sales) to deliver a superior customer experience.

Customer Experience & Digital Adoption:

- Enhance digital lending journeys by integrating seamless onboarding, instant approvals, and frictionless repayment options.

- Work with UX/UI teams to optimize customer interfaces across mobile banking, online banking, and third-party platforms.

- Implement customer education programs to drive awareness and responsible usage of micro-lending and BNPL services.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as loan origination, repayment rates, default ratios, and customer retention.

- Leverage data analytics to refine pricing strategies, lending limits, and repayment structures to maximize portfolio performance.

- Continuously iterate and improve product features based on customer feedback, usage patterns, and industry innovations.

Knowledge and Experience:

- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.

- Experience: 5+ years of experience in consumer lending, microfinance, digital banking, BNPL, or fintech lending solutions.

- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of credit risk, digital lending platforms, financial technology, and data-driven decision-making.

- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with banking regulations, financial inclusion strategies, and emerging trends in alternative lending.

- Soft Skills: Excellent strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.

- Preferred: Experience in launching digital lending products, working with fintech partners, or managing BNPL programs in a bank or financial institution.

Languages: Fluency in English
