General Manager Public Policy and Government Relations


Role Overview:


As the General Manager Public Policy and Government Relations, you will be responsible for driving advocacy initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships, and navigating regulatory frameworks across key markets.


The role demands strategic thinking, strong policy acumen, and deep networks across state-level administrative bodies. You will serve as Cos representative in critical conversations with state officials and help mitigate risks, resolve conflicts, and enable business expansion through policy interventions.


Key Responsibilities:


PDP (Partner Delivery Personnel) Relations & Strike Resolution:

- Act swiftly to minimize the duration and impact of strikes involving delivery partners.

- Escalate issues to relevant state administrative authorities and represent Co during negotiations or before quasi-judicial bodies.

- Work in close coordination with the liaison team to achieve timely resolutions.


State-Level Advocacy Projects:

- Collaborate with business leaders to influence and shape policies that improve the ease of doing business for Co across various states.

- Identify regulatory bottlenecks and drive efforts to cut bureaucratic red tape.

- Maintain proactive engagement with state governments to unlock growth opportunities.


Operations & Standardization:

- Lead the standardization of documentation, processes, and communications pertaining to PDP relationships.

- Implement operational consistency across India One markets initially, followed by gradual rollouts in India Next regions.


Team Development & Mentorship:

- Mentor and upskill the liaison team to engage effectively with senior state administrators and political leaders.

- Ensure each India One market has a capable resource identified for high-level escalations and issue resolution.


Documentation & Knowledge Management:

- Maintain updated stakeholder maps in each major state (refreshed quarterly).

- Create and manage official correspondence templates, whitepapers, and state-specific documentation outlining Cos economic contributions.


Regulatory Support for New Business Initiatives:

- Facilitate regulatory approvals for emerging business lines such as Meat, Alcohol, and evolving versions of ecomm business

- Partner with regional teams to ensure timely clearances and regulatory compliance.


Mandatory Requirements:


- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication in English and regional languages (preferred).

- Regulatory Expertise: Deep knowledge of state regulations, especially excise (alcohol laws) and labor laws.

- Stakeholder Management: Ability to represent Co confidently at senior levels within state bureaucracies and legislatures.

- Documentation & Project Management: Strong documentation abilities with proven project management discipline.

- Compliance Knowledge: Sound understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance protocols.
