Our client, a global consulting firm is engaged with a leading private sector bank in India it is undergoing a large-scale banking transformation initiative aimed at modernizing its data infrastructure and unlocking advanced analytics capabilities. As part of this broader agenda, the bank is exploring applications of machine learning and generative AI to enhance decision-making and customer experience across key business units.

The client is seeking a skilled Data Science Consultant to support this transformation by designing and deploying high-impact analytics solutions. Working alongside the banks internal teams and strategic partners, the consultant will play a pivotal role in building data science models, operationalizing AI use cases, and demonstrating measurable business value through innovation.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement machine learning and GenAI models to solve core business challenges in banking

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, risk, technology) to identify and prioritize analytics use cases

- Translate business objectives into data science solutions and communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders

- Build robust data pipelines and model validation frameworks using Python and modern data science tools

- Support integration of analytics solutions into operational systems and track performance metrics post-deployment

- Provide thought leadership on best practices in data science and contribute to the client's internal capability-building efforts

Your Background

- 5-10 years of hands-on experience in data science or applied machine learning roles

- Strong proficiency in Python and related data science libraries

- Proven track record of developing and deploying end-to-end ML or GenAI solutions in a business context

- Prior experience working in financial services, fintech, or banking domains preferred

- Ability to work independently and communicate technical insights clearly to business stakeholders

- Bachelors or Masters degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Engineering

This engagement will be on a 6-9 month contractual basis, with a strong possibility of extension based on performance and project evolution. The role is ideally based in Mumbai.
